Tariffs Take a Bite out of Canada's Vacation-Home Market | What a difference a year can make. After reporting renewed interest in Canada's cottage home market last May due to lower borrowing costs and improved affordability, Re/Max Canada is finding a starkly different situation ahead of the summer season this year. This year's survey by the brokerage found that 59% of participants were less confident in the vacation-home market as the burgeoning U.S.-Canda trade war takes shape. Re/Max Canada said that there is a chance for these sentiments to turn around ahead of prime selling season—provided a trade deal is reached soon. BNN Bloomberg |

U.K. Asking Prices See Smallest Bump in Nine Years | U.K. homes haven't seen late spring asking price this meager in nearly a decade. According to property portal Rightmove, the average asking price for homes and apartments between April 6 and May 10 were up by 0.6% month over month and 1.2% year over year. While it pushed the average asking price to a record high of £380,000 (US$507,626), the gain was the slowest monthly rise for this time of year since 2016. Analysts point to the 10-year-high in available homes for sale as the primary reason for the subdued price growth. The Business Times |

New-Home Prices Hold Steady in China | After an extended period of turbulence, some stability has come to China's property market. According to data published by the statistics bureau, which tracks changes in 70 large and medium mainland cities, prices for new homes in the nation's four first-tier cities were unchanged in April from March, when prices rose 0.1%. Prices in second-tier cities were also unchanged, and prices in third-tier cities slipped 0.2% over the same period. Lower borrowing costs and state-approved developer support appear to be the driving factors behind the steadiness. South China Morning Post |
