Their lungi get-up in Chennai Express might’ve given an idea or two to fashion designers for new style, but when Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone walked the ramp at the Delhi Couture Week, they thankfully chose to ignore the drape. The two stars looked quite majestic as showstoppers for Bollywood’s fave designer Manish Malhotra.
While a ponytailed SRK wore a classic black suit, but with an open collar button and no bow tie, a stylish waistcoat and a jacket left open, Deepika was resplendent in a royal blue and gold outfit. Ms Padukone has been seen wearing a heavily embellished Anju Modi ghagra choli on the poster of her new film Ram Leela, but that one is a more traditional dress. Manish’s beautifully embroidered zardozi outfit has a modern twist to its blouse – we really like! But it’s a modern look inspired by the 1930s era. How cool is that?
Dippy also wore a perfectly matching neckpiece that seemed almost a part of her dress, but no earrings. We’re sure the jewellery was heavy, since she took it off for the media interaction section of the showing. That made her pretty and intricate hairstyle more noticeable.
Wethinks Shahrukh and Deepika made a lovely pair of showstoppers for Manish, almost like a modern royal couple. Now we wait to see if they keep the magic going with Chennai Express!
