Prabhakaran rubs shoulders with Ambedkar to quench Chennai's summer thirst
There are two reasons why you may feel a little more thankful to late LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran and Naam Tamilar Katchi founder Seeman than to chief architect of the Constitution B R Ambedkar and VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan when it comes to thanneer pandals. Firstly, a thanneer pandal set up by the NTK near Puzhuthivakkam MRTS station on Inner Ring Road with the posters of Prabhakaran and Seeman is under the shade of a tree. Secondly, the two mud pots storing drinking water in the pandal have taps and so taking water from them is easy. But the VCK pandal - with posters of Ambedkar and Thirumavalavan and located 50 metres from the NTK pandal - is exposed to the hot sun and there are no taps on the pots. You have to dip a tumbler in the pot to get water.
