Sant Ravidas Jayanti: Many big leaders of the country including President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated the people of the country on the birth anniversary of Sant Kavi Ravidas. On Wednesday morning, the President of the country tweeted from his Twitter account and said that warm wishes to all the countrymen on Guru Ravidas Jayanti. The great saint Guru Ravidas ji gave the message of treating mutual love and equality without any discrimination.
At the same time, Prime Minister Modi tweeted that he had dedicated his entire life to eliminate evils like casteism and untouchability. He said that all of us, following the path shown by Guru Ravidas ji, contribute in building a society based on equality, harmony and coordination.
Who was Sant Ravidas
Sant Ravidas was a great 15th century saint philosopher, social reformer poet and follower of God in India. He was born in Kashi, UP in the house of Mata Kalsa Devi and Baba Santokh Das. He was the conductor of the Nirguna tradition. He led the Bhakti movement in North India. Sant Ravidas had given various spiritual and social messages through his great articles for his love for God and the improvement of the people in the social community.

His birth anniversary is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the month of Magha all over India. Whereas in Kashi, people celebrate his birth anniversary with great enthusiasm. Modi said that his government has imbibed the spirit of Guru Ravidas in every step and plan. The Prime Minister said that on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti on Wednesday, he would pray for public welfare at 'Shri Guru Ravidas Vishram Dham Mandir' in Karol Bagh, Delhi at 9 am.
He tweeted, "Tomorrow is the birth anniversary of the great saint Guru Ravidas ji. He dedicated his life to eliminate evils like casteism and untouchability from the society. He is inspiring all of us even today." In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said, "On this occasion, I am reminded of some things about the holy place of Sant Ravidas ji. In the year 2016 and 2019, I had the privilege of paying obeisance here and having langar. As an MP, I had decided that no shortage would be allowed in the development work of this pilgrimage site.
PM Modi is a Lok Sabha member in Varanasi. Modi said that he is proud to state that his government has imbibed the spirit of Guru Ravidas in all its initiatives and plans. Not only this, the Prime Minister said that construction work is going on in his memory in Varanasi with full grandeur.
