Two days of national mourning in the country on the death of Lata Mangeshkar (NewsNCR Gfx)
Lata Mangeshkar (Lata Mangeshkar) Said goodbye to the world today. Not only in the film world, there is mourning for him in the whole country. He may have left 'Playback Singing' for a long time, but his popularity remained the same. Lata ji was very active in social media. She used to remember her contemporaries with great humility on their death anniversary or birthday. Used to congratulate many new artists on their birthdays. Many times she used to tweet about the game of cricket. She also did not forget to give best wishes on all the festivals. Due to all these things, Lata ji used to stay in touch with the common people. After knowing about her nature, I cannot believe that she must have been angry at times. No one would even believe that they would have had to revolt to protest against something. But the truth is that Lata Mangeshkar helped the film industry when needed. (Film Industry) I made my point very firmly. Rather, Lata Mangeshkar, who sang in a very sweet voice, also raised strong voices of protest for her rights. It is the result of his rebellion that even today the singers are getting respect. All playback singers of the country for this work done 6 decades ago (Playback Singers) should express his gratitude to them. It is true that if he had not raised his voice, perhaps no one else would have paid attention to it. And even if other people raise their voice, it does not have the same effect as Lata ji's raising voice. At the same time, perhaps not everyone had the courage to speak so strongly in front of powerful musicians.
Why did Lata Mangeshkar get angry?
Actually, this story is related to Bollywood's most important Filmfare Award. The Filmfare Award is still considered the most prestigious honor of the Hindi film world.
The Filmfare Award was started in 1954. The same year also started the National Film Awards. When the Filmfare Awards started in 1954, awards were given in only five categories. Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Musician. The best singer or singer was not considered worthy. In 1954, Do Bigha Zamin was selected as the Best Film, Bimal Roy for Best Director, Dilip Kumar Best Actor for the film Daag, Meena Kumari for Best Actress for Baiju Bawra and Naushad for Baiju Bawra as Best Music Director. The voices of the controversy became vocal in 1957. Music composer Shankar Jaikishan was selected for the Filmfare Award for the film 'Chori Chori'. The song for which he was being honored with this award was 'Rasik Balma'.
Rasik Balma created panic
This was the same song that renowned director Mehboob Khan used to listen to on phone from Lata ji in Los Angeles during the days of his illness. This song was a big hit across the country. Lata ji was getting a lot of praise. Music composer Jaikishan requested Lata Mangeshkar to sing 'Rasik Balma' at the award ceremony. Lata ji refused to sing saying that the composer is getting the Filmfare Award for the song and not the singer, so she will not sing this song during the program. He said that if you guys want, then play the tune of the song in 'Ceremony'. There was also a rift between Shankar Jaikishan and Lata ji regarding this matter. Later, when this matter reached the organizers of the event, they realized their mistake. Lata ji was absolutely right, so it was decided to give Filmfare Award to 'Playback Singers' from next year as well.
Got the first award for Aaja Re Pardesi Main Toh Kab Se Khadi Is Paar
Interestingly, when a singer was selected for the Filmfare Award for the first time in 1959, she was none other than Lata Mangeshkar who fought for the singers in this award. The song for which Lata Mangeshkar was to be awarded was – Aaja Re Pardesi Main Toh Kab Se Khadi Is Paar. The 1958 film Madhumati was directed by Bimal Roy. Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthi Mala were the main actors in this film written by Ritwik Ghatak and Rajinder Singh Bedi. The lyricist was Shailendra. Legend has it that Bimal Roy wanted to take SD Burman as a composer for this film, but Burman Dada himself suggested Salil Choudhary's name for it. The audience liked this film very much.
Male and female categories separated after 8 years
In 1959, the 'Jury' of the Filmfare Award was made, then it asked to be selected for 'Playback Singer' as well. But for the next 8 years i.e. till 1967, 'awards' were available in this 'category' but 'male' and 'female' singers were not selected separately but only one playback singer. This change happened from 1967 when 'Male' and 'Female Singer' were selected separately for this 'Award'. Lata Mangeshkar won the Filmfare Award four times in her long career as a playback singer. Apart from Madhumati's Aaja Re Pardesi, Kahin Deep Jale Kahin Dil (Film – Twenty Years Later), Tumhi Mere Mandir Tumhi Meri Pooja (Film-Kanadan) and Aap Mujhe Achhe Lagne Lagai (Film – Jeene Ki Raah) were awarded for Gone. Apart from this, in 1993, Lata ji was honored with the Filmfare Life Time Achievement Award. Apart from this, in 1994, he was also given a Special Filmfare Award for the very popular song Didi Tera Devar Deewana from the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun. He has also been awarded the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award.
