Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is undoubtedly an exceptional and talented actress and a great humanitarian. She’s one of the very few Bollywood stars who have played quite a contributing role in India’s global recognition.
Cannes Film Festival: Though there have been other Bollywood celebs like Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Amitabh Bachchan who are often seen at the festival, Aishwarya’s dedicated presence at the festival since 2009 has made her the very face of India and a very good one too.
International Goodwill Ambassador: Aishwarya was bestowed with the prestigious title by the UN in 2012. The lady of actions held that she would not just be another poster girl for the initiative but would actively help spread HIV awareness to combat the infection.
AmfAR: True to her claims, at 2014 Cannes festival, the white beauty hosted the amfAR gala organized to raise fund for lifesaving HIV/AIDS research programs. Her hubby dear, Abhishek Bachchan, co-hosted the gala dinner and the two became the first Indians to have had the honour of doing so.
The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters: The poised and beautiful actress was honoured by the French government with the ‘The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’ award for her contribution to cinema and also for promoting Indo-French cooperation in India.
Oprah Winfrey Show: Ash appeared on the show in 2009 for the first time and was invited by Oprah, now a friend of Ms Bachchan, for the second time in 2012. Lady Bachchan happens to be the only Indian to have been on Winfrey’s show twice.
