After Salman Khan, Karan Johar has signed Aamir Khan for a Dharma production film and it took much convincing on KJo’s part. However, the nature of the project is yet to be decided.
Says a source, “Karan offered Aamir several projects, including the recent Shhuddhi. He declined, but insisted he was keen on working with the production house. Karan finally invited Aamir to sign on with Dharma. The project will be finalised later according to Aamir’s preference and comfort.”
The source further adds, “The amount of money that Karan has agreed to pay Aamir for the privilege of having the exclusive actor in the Dharma roster could feed the famine-stricken children of Ethiopia for 20 years. “We don’t know the exact figure. But it’s close to 150 crore.”
So will Salman and Aamir be getting the same fee?
According to a source, Salman’s staggering fee for Shhuddhi is the highest ever paid to any Indian actor. Says the source, “Salman has asked for the entire first week’s worldwide collection as part of his fee. Secondly, Salman asked and got 40 per cent of the satellite rights. And finally, from the accrued profits of the film he will get 20 per cent, while Dharma will walk away with 80 per cent.” According to trade experts this amounts to an approximate fee of a whopping `150 crores. This is an all-time high for any Indian actor. Says trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “Actually, it’s all between the producer and actor these days. But a `150 crore fee sounds too high to be true.”
