Remember Aishwarya Rai (not yet Bachchan at that time) in Dhoom: 2? She sizzled as Sunheri in those teeny-weeny outfits, showing off a body more toned and tanned than anyone had ever seen on her. She shimmied, she wiggled, she shook and she seduced as she danced to Crazy kiya re and Dhoom machale. And then there was that kiss. Yes, THAT kiss, the one with Hrithik Roshan across the dining table that made our toes curl. And we know that a lot of other toes curled too – in fact, it is known that the doe-eyed damsel’s family to be was so offended that she had to promise that would be her last sexy scene ever. Yes, word then was that Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, her soon-to-be sasur and saas, even tried to get Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films to cut the kiss from the film, so that their futurebahu would have a ‘clean’ image. But, as you saw, the smooch stayed. And so did all the sexy scenes that the skimpily-clad Ash did, much to the delight of all her fans, especially the younger ones.
So what is this about, you may ask. Simple. Now a new film in the franchise is almost ready for release. Dhoom:3 has Katrina Kaif as sexy siren Aaliya and in keeping with the fashion of today, she is wearing less and more sexily too than Aishwarya could ever have done in her version of Dhoom machale. Very short shorts, bosom-popping corsets, high-slit gowns and super-wicked high spike heels…very haute, very sizzling, very ooh-la la! But the sticking point is that she is slated by all and sundry to be the next Kapoor bahu. Her marriage to Ranbir Kapoor is expected to be announced almost every day. While the Kapoor khandaan is known to be far more liberal than the Bachchan parivaar, will Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh and the rest of the clan be happy with this dare-bare act by a girl who has been shedding clothes and inhibitions alike with each film she does? Yes, her possible future sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan has said that things have changed since the days that the Kapoor’s would not let their daughters act, but is it that big a change to accept Katrina and Ranbir’s rishta without too much argument?
