Karan Johar has had an exciting and busy year so far. The producer/director is just back from the 66th edition of the Cannes film festival and now, looks forward to hosting the most popular dance reality show on Television- Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.This year Karan produced Sonam Nair's Gippi, which had a decent run at the box office. He's also producing Ayan Mukerji's much hyped and upcoming release, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. But the multi faceted producer/director/judge and talk show host is only focusing on films.
Says Karan, "I have no interest in producing or directing a TV show and I say this with full assurance. I'm tired of the box office fight so I can't do the TRP fight now. My job is to make films for the box office and match its expectations. That is my responsibility. I don't understand this business where they kill the characters or make them go 20 years back and forth to increase the TRPs. Am not perfect in that area, so why go down that path?"
Talking about why eh chose a dance reality show he adds, "Jhalak is of a high standard. I have been offered many reality shows before but never felt like doing them. I know Madhuri and have a great regard for Remo as a choreographer and we have a good tuning as judges. That's why I accepted".
