Chennai Express causing trouble in Pakistan !

Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express releases this Eid ul Fitr and is sure to break records at the Indian box office. However, the film spells trouble for Pakistan. Filmmakers there are apprehensive of releasing their movies on the same day or even the next after.

At the Pakistan box office, Bollywood films were banned for a while because they were obviously eating into the pie of local projects. But now that the ban has been lifted, reports say producers are worried as to the fate their movies will meet thanks to Baadshah Khan, who is a hot fave in the Islamic nation.

Main Hoon Shahid Afridi, a movie based on and named after the former Pakistan cricket captain, is one such film that could lose out. The makers have therefore decided to delay its release…all because of Chennai Express!

But wethinks this could also be a plot by the makers to ride on the publicity wave that a Shahrukh Khan film will inevitably generate. According to reports, Main Hoon Shahid Afridi has been earlier postponed since the film’s editor passed away and the remaining post-production had to be done abroad. We just hope the movie gets a decent release…when it finally releases, that is.

As for being apprehensive about Chennai Express - well, that happens with Indian filmmakers too (read: Ekta Kapoor), so we don’t really blame our neighbours for being nervous!
