The movie so captivated nine time Olympic gold winner, American sprinter Carl Lewis, that he made an effort to find Milkha Singh's number and called him up on Monday night.
"Yes that's true. Lewis called me today. He saw the movie with an Indian fan and was impressed with it. He said he was moved by that fact that I went on to represent my country in such difficult circumstances. He wanted to send me a gift and asked for my postal address," Milkha Singh said.
Farhan Akhtar, who played Milkha Singh in the biopic, also tweeted about Carl Lewis' call to the Indian Olympic sprinter.
'Wow!! Milkha-ji got a call from Carl Lewis today after watching @BMBThefilm,' he tweeted.
"I don't know how he managed to find my Chandigarh number. That's really nice of him," added the Flying Sikh, who is best known for his heartbreaking fourth place finish in the close 400m final in the 1960 Olympics.
